The BeautyMatter FUTURE50 is our inaugural list of beauty brands, retailers, and service concepts of high-promise businesses from around the globe to know and watch as they define the beauty landscape today and tomorrow. These are businesses led by people fostering new ideas and pushing forward innovation.
Our editorial team used data, insight, and a bit of intuition to determine who comprised the FUTURE50. There was no fee associated with the process, and we had only two requirements. First, this list is to honor independent beauty, so no public businesses or brands where a strategic holds a majority stake are included. One exception is Mielle Organics, which P&G acquired after we closed the list. The second criterion was at least one member of the business leadership's ability to join us at the FUTURE50 Event on April 27 in New York City.
"The list provides the opportunity to highlight businesses and leadership teams that inspire us," Kelly Kovack, founder and CEO of BeautyMatter said of the FUTURE50. "The live event provides a platform for us to do what we do best, tackling real-time issues as well as contemplating what’s next with provocative programming that features thought leaders, emerging voices, and people that are shaping the industry today and tomorrow."
“All of the brands on this year’s FUTURE50 list represent some aspect of innovation in beauty—each in their own unique way,” said John Cafarelli, COO of BeautyMatter. “The list includes both legacy and newer brands that are utilizing cutting-edge technologies and tools for things like brand storytelling and creating products and services for new and traditionally underserved markets. Some of the brands are ESG innovators with management teams laser focused on real, quantifiable results. Others are distribution pioneers that are literally writing the playbook on getting the right products and services to the right customers where they want them. The common thread among all of the brands on this year’s FUTURE50 list is their commitment to challenging the status quo, their potential to harness their momentum to exponentially scale and create the framework for the future of the business of beauty.”

Unlike many industry events, FUTURE50 has been purpose-built to foster real connections and more than superficial networking. Programming and scheduling have been crafted to leave room for discussions that dig deeper than introductions.
"Building on the success of our NEXT Summit in LA last fall, we've doubled down with FUTURE50 on creating an event where we can facilitate meaningful connections within the beauty ecosystem," Kovack shared. "At NEXT, the BeautyMatter team scrambled to make introductions, but this event will feature a tech-enabled platform that takes networking to the next level by opening windows of communication and doors to conversation."
Everyone is welcome—no exclusive invite required. Join us. We'd love to see you.
